Just before classes started this morning, everyone was looking at a full rainbow over the school. I took a few shots and awkwardly put them together in photoshop.
For two days, I had my Art Theory 1 kids measure each others facial features. We averaged all of our measurings up on the chalk board and put those markings on a separate piece of paper. I then went over how to draw each facial feature and they plugged into their drawing a unique face using the average proportions. I hope that made sense.
The Film Studies class did just finish their music videos. This video is by Senior, Gable Baze and features Pinewood's own rock star, Grant Pierce singing his song, Kid #2 and the Green Stone Necklace. To see more music videos go here.
My film class finished their documentaries over a month ago and I forgot to post them. This particular documentary was done by Senior, Adam Ottke and is about our librarian, Karen Hall. To see more of them, go here.
Please excuse the poor digital images. I did not have access to the good light that hour. I went over 2-point perspective with my Art Theory 1 kids, and then they had about 2 weeks to do whatever they wanted to do with their perfect rectangles. As you can see, only one student put enough value on his drawing so their was no need to mess with levels in Photoshop.
These are excerpts from 10th grader Julianne's sketchbook. I require five sketches a week from every student in Art Theory 1, 2, Studio Art, and Drawing. They are given themes such as Halloween, Hands, or "Draw Whatever You Want". Here are some of Julianne's highlights.
I drove with my wife to Utah for Thanksgiving. So we spent about 14 hours roundtrip driving through the Nevada desert. This billboard was somewhere between Winnemucca and Elko. This stretch of desert can be beautiful, boring, and ugly.
In Art Theory 2, we looked at the work of Misako Inaoka and various images of half and half animals and humans from art history (Medusa's, Pan, sphynx, Terminator, etc.). They then had to construct their own hybrid in pencil and color pencil.
