Dollmaking High School Art

Dolls. I'm not sure why, but I though that making dolls would be cool. The students got really into it and for some, it became an identity assignment. I was shocked by the sewing skills these kids had. We worked probably three weeks on them. I know that's a long time, but if they can make something they are truly proud of, that's okay.

Andrew Kruep. This doll has a detachable velcro pistol and peg leg.


Erik Pyka. I had to bend this doll to have him fit in on my backdrop.

Leslie Koyama. You can flip this traditional Japanese doll's dress and it becomes a traditional Mexican doll. The artist has a Mexican/Japanese heritage. If I was smart, I would have photographed both.

Color Wheel High School Art

Color wheels. They spent two periods on them. Mostly a 10th grade class.

Stop-Motion Animation High School Art

These 3 Juniors and 1 Senior are working hard on an animation project. You can see the beginnings of their miniature film set in the background. I think this will be amazing. I'll post the video when it's done.

Davinci Vitruvian Man High School Art

I repeated this assignment from last semester because it went so well the first. I'm pretty pleased with these new ones. They were shown Davinci's Vitruvian Man and were assigned to make their own. Mostly sophomores.

Mickey Mouse High School Art

In my Studio Art class last semester, for some reason, I remembered several years back trying to draw Mickey Mouse from memory and doing a terrible job at it. So I asked the students spur-of-the-moment to draw their best Micky Mouse without looking at anything. I was shocked by how good some of them were. Much better than my previous attempt.
