I lectured on organic and geometric shapes. I had the students grid out their canvas paper, do organic shapes on one side and geometric on the other. And they cannot repeat the same shape or color for that shape (not everyone did that). In the middle, I gave them free space to do whatever they wanted. I didn't need to say that it must be non-objective. They were already in that frame of mind.
