The Art Theory 1 kids had about 3 periods to put together an earth work proposal sketch and then present their sketches to the class. I showed them Andy Goldsworth, Robert Smithson, and Jared Lindsay Clark.
I have to do a little bit of explaining here. The artist is showing how the laser in the Washington Memorial should be used to cut a face into the moon.

Non-Objective High School Art Painting
Art Theory 2 had about 8 periods to make non-objective abstract paintings. I showed them work by Frank Stella, Agnes Martin, Paul Wackers, Todd Chilton, Helen Frankenthaler, and Jackson Pollock although I feel like I should not show Pollock because immediately the kids want to splatter paint. Maybe he was onto something.

Bogor High School Art
HighSchoolArt got a comment from Anwar in Indonesia. She is doing the same thing we are and posting her students work on her blog bogorhighschoolart.blogspot.com. Here's a taste. Hopefully she's just getting started and we'll see a lot more. We have friends in Indonesia.

Da Vinci Invention High School Art
My Studio Art and Art Theory 2 kids worked for about 8 periods on this assignment. I showed them Da Vinci's notebook drawings and inventions. I had them paint a medium ground on some watercolor paper and use that to create a pencil and white color pencil sketch of their own invention. They look a lot better in person. The photos are bad and I apologize for that.

McCain & Obama High School Art
I had my Art Theory 1 and Studio Art kids (mostly 9th and 10th graders) draw from their memories Obama and McCain in one period. They could not look at any pictures and had notice beforehand.
