Oil Painting Portraits Gridded High School Art

The painting students took photos of themselves, gridded them out, and painted them in oil. They started with a grisaille and attempted glazing.

Abstract Oil Painting High School Art

I showed my painting students images from Cubism, Abstract Expressionism, Minimalist Painting, and Contemporary Abstraction. They started with figure studies in charcoal and then abstracted them.

Plein Air Watercolor Atmospheric Perspective High School Art

I showed the students some photos of landscapes that show atmospheric perspective. I then took them outside and to a vantage point on our campus that allowed us to see hills in the distance so they could see atmospheric perspective in life. I then had them do their own watercolor paintings sitting outside.
