Collage to Acrylic Painting High School Art
I started this assignment by showing the kids some artists that make paintings or drawings from collage. The only two I can remember off hand are Jeff Koons and Eric Yahnker. They worked on these for about 4 weeks. They did not grid, they lightly sketched in their collage.

wow, what an awesome idea. Did they incorporate the collage in the painting or did they construct the collage and then use it as a reference. I do something similar. I'll be posting some examples soon at my blog (thepaintedapple.blogspot.com)
They constructed the collage, and then used it as a reference. I told them to do all of their thinking in the collage phase so that the painting would be only about technical translation. I'll take a look at your blog.
