Upper School Juried Exhibition High School Art
Finally finished hanging art for our first, Upper School Juried Art Exhibition. We asked Alana Twelmeyer to be our juror. She is an Art Director for Rogue Fitness here in Columbus and did a fantastic job. I haven't posted images of the two projections we will have going during the opening that will showcase work from the Digital Art class and Film Studies. We are pretty happy with how it looks so far.
Taylor McKimens Portrait High School Art
For this assignment I showed students portraits done by Taylor McKimens, Kyle Ranson, and Vincent van Gogh. They started their pieces by doing a watercolor wash underpainting. They then blocked in with acrylic the areas of hair and face with light color. The final step is to draw in the face with black and colored sharpies using tapered lines. I would have had them use brushes, but I think we ran out of small good brushes that can make that type of line work. This might be a little much for a class that is mostly 9th and 10th graders.

Charcoal Faces High School Art
I started with a PowerPoint on facial proportion and demonstrated how to start a face drawing with an oval, and three-nose spacing. I projected some hi-res photos of two faces and spent about 12 minutes on each.
