Non-Objective High School Art Painting

For this assignment, I had the kids do an acrylic painting using both organic and geometric non-objective shapes and forms. I showed them work by Frank Stella, Agnes Martin, Helen Frankenthaler, Jackson Pollock, Franz Kline, and Todd Chilton. Towards the end I had to help a few of them mess up their nice geometic shapes.

Proportion Portrait High School Art

For a whole class period, I had the kids measure eachother's faces. For example a measurement from the middle of the eye to the top of the head or bottom of the nose to middle of the mouth. When all of the face measurements were done, I had them contruct a face according to the average of all the facial proportions we had measured. This is what they came up with.

My art theory 1 class had to make a collage using imagery that illustrated their personal identity. Pretty happy how these turned out.

Paper Cut High School Art

We started off by looking at Lane Twitchell's work. The kids had to do their own paper cut with content that reflected their personal identity.

Graffiti Poster High School Art

In this assignment for my studio class, they had to make a faux-poster that would be hung up around school. The subject matter could be anything they wanted. The documentation of the installed work was emphasized as being just as important or more so than the actual piece. I hope some kids or teachers do get confused.
