Alison Malone

Thanks to beautifuldecay.com, I was introduced to Alison Malone's photographic series entitled "The Daughters of Job". Having been a Freemason's daughter herself, she has photographed some of the inner ceremonial meeting places of the Freemasons and the daughters and granddaughters of Freemasons from the ages of 10-20 in these spaces. I am interested to know what part if any these girls play in the rites that transpire within. The photos show a reverence to the subject matter that is rarely seen in contemporary art. It is striking to see the girls in traditional ceremonial dress while still showing flares of individuality like red highlights. The photos are both exotic and familiar and tap into the sublime.
