Collaborative Installation High School Art

These are installation shots from a collaborative installation piece done by my Art Theory 2 class to end last semester. First we watched video from PBS' Art21 on artists Judy Pfaff, Tim Hawkinson, and Cai Guo-Qiang. They decided on doing something dealing with nightmares. They worked in pairs making maggots out of sculpy, black birds out of paper mache, cardboard, and feathers, spiders out of sculpy and wire, a body using clothes found in the lost and found stuffed with newspaper, and a rotting head from a plastic skull overlayed with modeling clay. They added a red light for extra effect and it was installed in the art room supplies closet. On their final, I had them write an essay question about the pluses and minuses with working collaboratively.
